December - quite a few shows, actually
Oh hey there,
It's been a minute since I was on any stages instead of booking them, and I'm looking forward to performing again next month. There's a bunch happening so I'm just going to list them in chronological order.
First up is A Southern Christmas Carol with Enigma Theater Company!

We're doing a staged reading of the Dickens classic, re-imagined a little closer to home. There are three chances to see the show. I'll be in the December 5th and 7th shows, the first at Shadowbox Studios and the next a matinee at Night School Bar. All of these performances are fundraisers for Siembra NC, who have been doing unbelievable work in keeping our community informed and protected during our recent...icy...conditions.
Then, on December 11th, I'm so happy to be helping celebrate Arcana's 10th anniversary by playing a set or two starting at 8pm. No cover!
On Saturday, December 13th, I'm hosting another community Shakespeare reading at Night School. This time we're doing Twelfth Night, which is both seasonally appropriate and an absolute delight.

This event is free to attend but space is limited so we do ask that you register here. These events have been so much fun for me to do, because making Shakespeare accessible to "regular" folks is one of my passions.
If you're not in Durham, but love the idea of reading or hearing Shakespeare out loud in a low-stakes, supportive environment, I'm also going to do this one ONLINE for you, my beloved subscribers! That'll be on December 28th at 3pm, and I'll have a link to that for you closer to then.

Finally, I'll once again be joining the Bull City Holiday Extravaganza for a few songs on December 20th. We have two shows - 3pm and 7pm. They will sell out - grab tickets early!
It's been many years since I had a real "Gigmas" (which is what I and some fellow performers nickname the chaotic-but-fun onslaught of holiday shows) and I have to say I'm really looking forward to it. I'm reminded that it's so important to seek out joy and community, and that celebrating survival and light in the darkest season is what keeps us going.
I hope to see you soon.
Xo,
J.
