Séance Season Finale - This Sunday!

Crys Matthews joins us 10/20

Back in January, I had a tiny idea to host a concert series in Durham that would pay artists a fair wage and bring folks together around community causes.

As soon as I started talking about it, people lined up to help. Whether it was lending equipment, offering us a gorgeous venue space, showing up for set-up and breakdown, donating wine, or providing lodging for traveling artists - it was quickly evident that this tiny idea was growing into something special.

Fast forward to this week, and I’m incredulous that we’re already about to host our season finale show. I’m especially glad that it’s NC-native and current TN resident Crys Matthews.

Crys writes songs that make you want to march. She leads with love and energy that is undeniable. Crys’ music is what my heart needs right now in a world with so much hurt…and maybe your heart needs her music, too.

If you’re in the Triangle area, please grab a ticket to this Sunday’s show. I especially want to sell this one out because Crys has had to cancel a few Western NC shows due to the damage caused by Hurricane Helene. I would love for us to come together as a community and experience the healing of her music and to be able to offer Crys some well-deserved resources at a time when being a touring artist in the Southeast is especially hard.

If you don’t live in the Triangle but you want to throw a little cash her way, you can pre-order her new album here.

I would also like to take a moment to let you know that Séance Listening Room is definitely continuing for another season in 2025 (I’ve already booked artists through June!) and we’re hoping to grow into a larger part of the Durham community.

More on that soon*.

For now, I’m feeling incredibly grateful for the help I’ve received this year from Erik Myers, Dave Oh and Radical Healing, Kelly Creedon at The Living Room, and my chosen family. Art doesn’t happen in a vacuum, and concerts need artists and audiences. I’ve been learning so much about being in community by taking on this project, and I can’t wait to keep it going.

Grab your ticket for Sunday’s show and we’ll see you in the garden!

Xo,

Juliana

*Apologies for being cryptic, feel free to ask if you’re curious! Info coming very soon on another post, though.
